Engagement

Playing games is fun. Although TeamUp is a serious game, it does not forget the great advantage of an engaged audience.

Efficiency

TeamUp is an efficient manner for organizing teamwork workshops. From testing a team in a large number of teamwork situations, to extending a trainer's observations. With easy to use and extensive facilitation tools, TeamUp is designed to maximize the effectiveness of a trainings session.

The players start with only these instructions, the rest they have to find out for themselves.

Simple controls

Playing a computer game can seem daunting for people with little or no experience with such games. To ensure that this is not a barrier for participation with TeamUp, the game has been designed from the ground up to be very easy to control. The players should be challenged by the game, not the controls.

For example, while most games require simultaneous input from both hands, TeamUp can be played through completely with only one hand, reducing the cognitive strain of controlling the game and allowing the players to focus on the actual game contents. Extensive testing with players from various skill levels has resulted in a game that can be controlled by everyone, even those who rarely use computers at all.

Validated

TeamUp was originally developed in cooperation with the Delft University of Technology and Accenture and is currently the subject of extensive studies into the effectiveness of various teams. For trainers and end users this has the great benefit that the game's effectiveness is scientifically validated. In addition we provide the results from the various studies performed with the game to trainers so they can use them to improve their own usage of the game.

The game features various challenges that each focus on different aspects of teamwork.

Easy to facilitate

TeamUp comes with special facilitation tools to support a trainer during a session. A central screen can start the game, pause it and close it down. While playing this screen provides a quick overview of the status of all players and teams. Finally this tool can show the quantitative results of the game, for example to show them on a central screen. With this tool setting up a TeamUp session requires little time and is simple enough that trainers are able to do so without the need of dedicated technical support during a session.

Standalone or part of a bigger whole

A TeamUp session can be a very valuable tool by itself, but TeamUp can also be effectively integrated into a larger training program. For example, starting a larger program with TeamUp allows the trainer to quickly identify specific issues within a group that might need work. A trainer's qualitative observations combined with the detailed quantitative data gathered by the game can form a strong foundation for further training.
